The Best of 2011: My Favorite Projects

Happy New Year!  I hope you & yours had a wonderful Christmas & a great start to 2012!

I know it's a new year, & I'm supposed to be looking forward & not focusing on the past, but this week I have decided not to follow that advice!  Today, I want to share some of my favorite projects from the past year.  Later in the week I'll share the room reveals & popular posts from 2011.  (And then I promise to move on to new content for the new year!)

So, without further adieu, here are my favorite projects (in no particular order) from 2011:

Mantel Makeover- Using leftover plywood & some trim, my husband added some character & custom detail above the fireplace.

Bookshelf Turned Dresser- For just a few dollars each, my husband made crates to contain the clutter on these bookshelves.

Creating Old Worn Artwork- You gotta love a free project!  I made these printable ships look old & worn using products from around the house.

{After}

Lamp Revamp- I took this lamp from boring to bold by paper clipping a pink boa to it!

{After}

Paper Doll Art- Another cheap art project using 99 cent plaques, craft paper, & free paper doll printables!

Landscaping Retained- I was able to convince my husband to build a retaining wall to help level out our landscaping!  Yippee!

{After}

Dresser Do-Over- I took this $15 Craigslist dresser from bland to beautiful by painting it & adding new knobs & "wood ornaments".

Kitchen Artwork- I added some personality by our kitchen table by printing (in sephia) & framing some pictures of my kids eating!  The photo below was taken at my son's first birthday party & is one of my favorites!

Entry Art- I created more custom artwork for my home by printing free photos from Microsoft Office Images.  Since this was for my entryway, I decided to print off pictures of doors.

Command Central- These frames were given new life as dry erase boards & cork boards to create a place to keep the family organized.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane!  I chose not to include any of the room reveals or popular posts in this list, so there are no repeats.  (In other words, you didn't see ALL my favorites!)  I hope you come back on Wednesday to see all the rooms I revealed this year.
