The Family Room

So, for the past few days I have been showing you bits & pieces of the family room. Here is what it looked like before we moved in (& before we had carpet):

Here is how it looks today:

The paint color is Misty Surf by Olympic (found at Lowes).  Did you know that if you ask, they sell a 15 year paint that is much less expensive than the 30 year paints?  I think it runs between $11- $15 for a gallon.

The curtain panels came from Garden Ridge.  I found the chairs on Craigslist for $45 total!  You can find out more about the mantle by clicking here.

We bought the sofas about ten years ago!  They are a blue denim, so I covered them with clearanced slipcovers from surefit.  I'm pretty sure I only paid about $100 for both of them.  I can't wait to replace them with something less white though!

We have also had the coffee table for a while.  I refinished the top this past summer due to wear & tear.  The table  has three drawers which store our CDs, DVDs, and remotes.

I found the small white end table on clearance at Big Lots for about $40.  I think it looks a lot like one in the Pottery Barn catalog, but much cheaper!

Above is a picture of the entertainment center we constructed.  You can read more about that here.

I thought I would also show you where we keep some of the kids' books and toys.  This cubby system is tucked on the inside of a small wall & not that noticeable.  My husband recently built the crates which hold toys.  We also store some of their toys in baskets & inside the entertainment unit.  Our sofa sits about three feet away from the wall, so we usually keep a doll stroller & car track hidden behind there.

Although this isn't the best picture, I thought I would share it since it gives you an idea of where everything is placed in the room (kind of!).

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
